The Life Source Center’s Affirming Life Adoption Program works closely with other organizations throughout the country in assisting persons in the process of adopting a child from the Ukraine. With the uncertainties inherent in any foreign adoption, it is imperative that persons be guided through the process in a supportive and highly professional manner. About Our Ukraine Adoption Program

Children Available:

Both boys and girls are available after twelve months of age. However, most of the children that are adopted are between two to five years of age. It is not unusual for children up to twelve years of age to be available for adoption from particular orphanages. There are more boys available than girls. Two or more siblings can be adopted in the same court hearing, in the same court region. A second fully executed dossier is needed if the children are residing in the same orphanage. Working with an adoption organization, such as ours, that is aware of the nuances of the country make going through the bureaucratic maze easier and less stressful.

Parent Requirements:

Parents interested in adopting children from Ukraine need to be 25 to 50 years of age. Persons may be more readily able to adopt a child who is older and/or has special needs. There may be other children in the home. Only one parent need be a USA citizen. Single persons as well as married couples are accepted.

Referral and Travel Time:

Provided that all necessary documents are secures, the home study can be completed in less than two months. Approximately six months after the dossier is completed and sent out, the family will receive travel, as well as their child referral information at the Adoption Center in Kiev. Parents will travel to the child’s region and begin the court proceeding, which can take as long as two months.

Costs:

The International Program Administrative fee and the Ukraine Foreign fee are based of those set by the organization contracting with the given orphanage and the orphanage fee itself. This does not include the adoption home study fee, travel, food and lodging, CIS-1-600A application and assorted required certified documents.
